GOD STILL LOVES YOU AND IS WILLING TO RECEIVE YOU AGAIN.

Taking a glimpse at the current events in the world, one begins to ponder if a sovereign God exists, not to talk of Him loving us. But the answer is “YES, HE EXISTS AND LOVES US”. The truth is that the world is experiencing what it had already experienced before (Ecclesiastes 1:9). I’m sure you can remember one of the famous stories in the Bible about the Israelites who were slaves in Egypt for four hundred years. God punished the Egyptians with all sorts of plagues for refusing to liberate the Israelites. Despite all, we should know that the love of God is above all that is happening and that it is simply an accomplishment of His word.

The love of God is like a sweet, peaceful aroma that stretches it’s hands through a thick wall of rocks to give hope to a violent, rotten soul.

We are all born with a sinful nature (Psalms 51:5, Romans 5:12). A nature inherited from Adam and Eve who disobeyed God in the garden of Eden. From the simile above, sin is a thick wall that separates man from God. It might take the whole day to start giving examples of sin but a clear definition and example is found in Galatians 5:19-21. This means you need to get through or above the wall of sin to meet the sweet presence of God.

God’s love is demonstrated in His one and only begotten Son, Jesus. He was with God from the beginning and all things were created through Him (Colossians 1:15-21). He left the throne in Heaven and came here on Earth through the Virgin Mary to lay down His life on the cross so that you and I *could be saved. In order to destroy the power of sin and defeat Satan, he resurrected from the dead after three days and was seen by many before His Ascension to Heaven. It is only through Jesus that you can re-establish your relationship with God because the power of God to forgive sins is manifested through Him (John 3:16).

Going to Church cannot guarantee eternal life because there are people who grew up in a Christian family and went to church just to please their parents. They did not take the engagement to follow Christ sincerely in their hearts.

Obeying the ten commandments will not save you either. On evangelistic missions, I have heard many say “I obey the ten commandments”. It is not bad to obey the ten commandments but we are no longer living according to the law, rather, by grace. Meaning we are saved by grace and not by obeying the law. Grace is simply the undeserved favour that God gives us to come back to Him when we are in a sinful state. You did, you have done and you shall do nothing on your own to gain eternal life except by the grace of God.

Good works will never guarantee salvation for you (Ephesians 2:8-9). It is good to be generous but God knows how boastful and proud we are, especially when we do good. Faith in Jesus is accompanied by good works in His name while works without faith in Jesus is considered as death.

Receiving Jesus simply means you want to abandon the old life and take the new one being offered by God through Jesus. Anyone who accepts Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior lives a new life and the old is gone (2 Corinthians 5:17). However, this does not mean that you won’t face suffering, hardship, persecution, poverty, etc. All these will happen but the Holy Spirit that lives in those who believe in Jesus and walk in His footprints, will give you endurance and a peace of mind. So, don’t come to Jesus because you are poor and in need of money, or because you are sick and you need healing desperately. Come to him because you don’t want to live a life of sin anymore. With this genuine step taken, every other thing will follow (Matthew 6:33).

ACCEPTING JESUS.

  • Pray and ask Him to forgive you from ignorance.
  • Accept that you’re a sinner and are willing to repent from your sins.
  • Ask Him to have mercy on you and make you worthy to be in His presence.
  • Ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit so that your ways will be directed by Him.

IF YOU HAVE MADE THIS DECISION, I WELCOME YOU TO GOD’S FAMILY AND THE BODY OF CHRIST. MAY HE LEAD YOU IN JESUS’ NAME.
